Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients in a variety of settings. The surgical technologist works under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. This individual works under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions appropriately, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Surgical Technologist possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. This position is responsible for assisting with patient care in close working relationships with the surgical team. The role primarily provides technical support for patients undergoing urgent and emergent surgical interventions in various locations to include Pavilion Operating Room, UT Surgery Suite, Same Day Surgery Center, and Children’s Surgery Center.
- Previous surgical tech work experience scrubbing complex surgical procedures in a similar setting or main operating room
- Certificate or degree from an accredited surgical technology program
- Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
