Job Duties


Staff Attorney - Administrative Staff and unclassified pursuant to §124.11 (A) (30) and §3333.03 of the Revised Code. Serves at the pleasure of the Chancellor and in a fiduciary capacity to the Ohio Board of Regents. Reports to the General Counsel.


  • Conducts research; negotiates, drafts and processes contracts; tracks and monitors grants and contracts on the legal tracking system
  • Provides assistance to the Legal Services team and staff in research, , legislative issues, contracts and transactional issues, and grants administration and compliance
  • Assists in the development of higher education policies and programs
  • Represents legal services team at various stakeholders meetings and serve as a liaison to other state agencies
  • Assists in management of projects and legal relationships with partner universities, community colleges and adult career centers
  • Responds to legal questions raised by agency employees, such as ethics and HR
  • Assists with managing agency policies
  • Drafts administrative rules and assists with filing process
  • Reviews agency actions and determinations to ensure legal and administrative compliance
  • Conducts legal, legislative and policy related research; prepares memos and briefing papers on assigned topics;
  • Knowledge of legal research, legal terminology, and legal issue recognition;
  • Reviews and responds to public records requests and assists in records retention
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate
  • Knowledge of business transactions and ethics compliance
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in work with a state or public entity
    • Experience with grants research and administration
