Job Title: Steward

Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized. Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks. Maintains clean/dry floors throughout the shift.

Responsibilities and Tasks

· Ensuring the availability of clean dishes by washing dishes, pots, pans, flatware, and glassware

· Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in the storage area

· Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, pans, mixers, etc.

· Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition

· Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, pantries, refrigerators, and cupboards

· Unloading and storing deliveries

· Sweeping and mopping floors, especially if items are broken or spilled

· Taking out the trash and cleaning garbage cans with water or steam

· Sort and remove the trash, placing it in designated pickup areas

· Wash all kitchen mats and keep the area clean and sanitary

· Supporting other staff members by assisting with other tasks as needed

· Report kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures to the BOH management team immediately

· Maintain the dish machine with soap and rinse solutions and empty the food catches

· Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment

· Set up and maintain soak bin for silverware

· Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor with all members, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.

  • Perform any other duties or requests assigned by the Executive Chef, BOH Management Team, or Clubhouse Manager
  • Maintain regular attendance on Mesa Verde Country Club property.

Work Context

Requires walking, standing, telephone conversations, and face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams. There may be times when you may deal with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people. On occasion, there may be exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires being exact or highly accurate, requires repeating the same physical or mental activities over and over, Requires meeting strict deadlines, Requires work with external customers or the public, Requires work with others in a group or team, Includes responsibility for work outcomes and results. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. Must be able to lift 25lbs on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50lbs occasionally. Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, climb, crawl, squat, and stretch sometimes; requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, etc. Must be able to work in various weather conditions, and in refrigeration units, temperatures may range from -20F – 115F.
