JOB SUMMARY:

This individual will be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments. The specialist is responsible for ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately and accordance with customs guidelines including the issuance and monitoring of Surety Bond limits and expirations. The freight specialist is also responsible for working with freight forwarders and seeking the most competitive rates for all shipments.

This position will include regular interaction with all levels of Sales, Product, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure on-time shipments and visibility throughout the transit process.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Logistics Management and Execution

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of domestic and international shipments
  • Works with Purchasing, Freight Forwarders, and Custom’s Brokers to ensure proper customs documentation is processed
  • Responsible for filing AES for international export
  • Must have the ability to properly assign HTS codes to a given commodity.
  • Experience with AES site reporting for import and export
  • Maintain and update knowledge on all Custom’s clearance processes
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for Imports
  • Knowledge of Anti-Dumping Counterviolence Duties.
  • Knowledge of temporary legislation (Sec 301) in the tariff code that may impact our business.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of FDA flags and Scope.
  • Project and time management: Plan tasks and deliverables accurately, prioritize tasks and adapt as needed
  • Actively work on cost down opportunities for overall freight costs including the maximization of container loads
  • Tracking, tracing, and updating the status of shipments daily
  • Freight Spend Analysis
  • Responsible for launching and executing a successful RFQ
  • Measure International Freight KPI’s
  • Present KPI’s to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Quotes and nominates forwarder based on a specified criterion of Transit Time, Lanes, Modal and Costs.
  • Verify monthly billing Quotes Vs Actuals and dispute any excess or incorrect charges.
  • Serve as a liaison between the specialized departments within and outside the Supply Chain organization, working cross-functionally and cross-regionally to develop strategic
  • Facilitates cross functional meetings as needed and provides written summary of meeting including Action Items and owners.

Continuous improvement

  • Drive performance improvement through the use and interpretation of Continuous Improvement Tools
  • Address the root causes of issues, create corrective action plans, and implement long term solutions
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required with internal and cross-functional teams
  • Deploy Lean methods to simplify processes, eliminate waste/non-value adding activities and improve workflow: evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, procedures, and daily workflow
  • Develop, implement, and maintain work instructions and process documentation
  • Challenge the team to be Customer Centric, including developing strategies to enhance our customer service and our growth, focusing on deliveries that are on-time, in-full and defect-free to influence positive customer feedback results, responsiveness to internal and external customers

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Strategic Procurement, Engineering, Services, Logistics, and Finance. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions
  • Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma, Lean (Kaizens, Workouts, Process mapping) and Vendor Managed Inventory a plus
  • Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word is required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization – English
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in international freight including International Freight Best Practices, Customs Clearance, and Current Tariff Scenarios

Pay: $73,800.00 - $104,600.00 per year
