The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) will bring massive opportunity into Wyandotte County, Kansas through various programs and initiatives. The VISTA will construct and execute a communications plan specific to ARPA activities and related programming.

Our full-time, 12-month AmeriCorps VISTA positions could be right for you! Passion and general skills are needed, experience is not required; training and resources will be provided. VISTA members receive professional development and experience, but opportunities for future employment are not guaranteed. Multiple positions are available within the Unified Government’s AmeriCorps VISTA Program, and candidates may apply for more than one position.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

· Talk to stakeholders to get an understanding of the current landscape of Wyandotte County, how the ARPA funds are being utilized, and where the need for communications lies.

· Strategize ways to evaluate the communications plan in order to achieve the objectives for the plan. Adjust the plan as needed.

· Support a new community network to further the Strategic Communications Department’s goals of the UG. Build a community network of organizations, groups, and individuals in order to quickly get needed communications out to the public.

· Strategize ways to build, sustain, and keep the community network up to date and effective.

Create communications materials and social media posts. Strategize ways the Strategic Communications Department could streamline workflows. Present those strategies to the department’s leadership.

Minimum qualifications:

· Be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident

· Willing to submit to and pass a national service background check

· Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

AmeriCorps VISTA Member Compensation:

· A living allowance of $575 (pre-tax) is provided every two weeks.

· Upon completion of the 12-month term, CNCS provides a $6,345 Education Award for college loans or future education expenses. Those without loans or plans for future education can receive a smaller cash stipend of $1,800, in lieu of the Education Award.
