Summer 2023 Jump Start Instructors: Reading, Writing and Math

Visitation School is seeking Jump Start Reading, Writing, and Math Instructors for the 2023 Summer Solution Program. The Jump Start program runs in person, Monday through Friday, June 12 through July 14 (closed July 3 and 4), from 8 a.m. to noon each day (plus optional afternoon class sessions if interested). Reading instructors must be trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach or similar appropriate multi-sensory approaches for teaching reading and spelling. Writing instructors must have experience in classroom writing techniques and strategies. Teachers will work individually or in small groups with students entering grades 1-10.

Visitation is an independent Catholic day school serving a coed Lower School (Montessori Pre-K through grade 5), an all-girls Middle School (grades 6-8), and an all-girls Upper School (grades 9-12). Visitation is located in Mendota Heights, MN. Students from any school are welcome during the Visitation Summer Solution Program.

The ideal candidate for the Jump Start Reading, Writing, and/or Math Teacher role:

• Is a lifelong learner who is passionate about the educational experiences of children.
• Has demonstrated success as a special education teacher or general education teacher with specialized training.
• Has completed or is willing to complete online VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children Training prior to April 2023.
• Enjoys and has demonstrated success in working with students, families, and colleagues in an educational environment.
• Has a strong desire to contribute actively to a community where students are known, loved, and challenged, and excited to embrace the Visitation mission.
• Is able to demonstrate and model the philosophies and spirit of Visitation School.
• Is available for the entirety of the program from June 12-July 14, 2023 (plus one flexible prep day and a 1-hour evening zoom meeting the week of June 5). Due to the condensed nature of the program, teachers must commit to working every day of the session. Our program will be closed on July 3 and 4.
