All Delaware residents have access to computers and high-speed internet at their community library, but not all know how to navigate the internet while keeping personal data safe and how to evaluate the legitimacy of the information. Patrons requesting assistance with employment, insurance, housing, health etc. because they lack the digital literacy skills to use the available resources. Under the direction of the Digital Literacy VISTA, Summer Associates will provide hands-on implementation assistance to improve digital literacy in the libraries and possibly additional locations in the communities. This also includes making sure patrons have applied to the Affordable Connective Program to get access to free internet if eligible.



Member Duties : Summer Associate will be familiarized with all the library resources available for patrons- programs, software and even Chromebooks and Hotspots available to check out. Learn the basic online Northstar computer classes so that you can teach others in both a classroom setting or help people one on one till they are ready to take the online courses on their own. As time allows, provide assistance to patrons to implement their new skills for specific uses such as job searches and applications, finding resources to learn about specific topics like health, etc. Learn about the other library programs including teleservices and social services. Assist patrons with their use of the Telehealth/Teleservice technology. Training and support will be provided!
