Job Summary and Qualifications

As MLS Supervisor of the Laboratory at our facility you will have the opportunity to lead a highly functioning team that supports many different departments throughout the hospital and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:

  • You will be responsible for the overall technical operation of the Laboratory.
  • You will direct daily operations including decision-making, response to problems, identifying issues and errors, and taking corrective action.
  • You will monitor, maintain, and control laboratory supply inventory and expense and assist with the development of operating and capital budgets.
  • You will be responsible for the development and retention of technical staff and will contribute to good employee relationships and provide for staff development.
  • You will develop shift assignments to ensure proper coverage of the department and ensure the maximum efficiency in the use of personnel.
  • You will ensure that competency testing is current and documented for personnel and conduct coaching, training, and counseling as necessary.
  • You will work with the Laboratory Medical Director and Administrative Director on verification protocols for new testing methods or platforms.
  • You will be responsible for the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • You will be responsible for assisting leadership with inspections and ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies to include the College of American Pathologists, the Clincal Laboratory Improvement Act and the Joint Commission.

Qualifications:

  • ASCP or National Certification required.
  • AABB preferred.
  • BS in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related sciences.
  • 5 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.
  • 2-5 years of Blood Bank experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and written.

  • Strong problem solving, management, prioritization, and leadership skills necessary.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
