The Role

As Systems/Flight Test engineer, you are responsible for developing the system engineering process and documenting system level requirements. You will establish incremental risk reduction testing culminating the flight test verification in Red 6 owned and operated experimental aircraft. You will translate qualitative user based experienced capabilities into system level performance, hardware and software requirements.

You will develop the test and evaluation process for cost and timely risk reduction culminating in flight test. In this role, you will make recommendations, and implement developmental testing process toward establishment of robust System Integration Lab capabilities for Airborne-Tactical Augmented Reality (ATARS), Combined Air Battlespace Operating Network (CARBON) and Augmented Reality Command and Analytic Data Environment (ARCADE)

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capability in developing system/subsystem requirements, system level performance models, system/subsystem error tolerable error budgets, as well as system data collection strategies and toolsets to characterize system performance, as well as planning and execution of flight test programs. Specific desired flight test responsibilities will include:

  • Leading for all test activities relative to ATARS/ARCADE/CARBON systems
  • Develop test plan in support of evaluating system performance
  • Lead execution of test plan including overall test timeline
  • Development of test cards, materials supporting verification / validation
  • Support collection and lead reduction of data to make evaluation of system performance IAW test design methodology.
  • Flight test reporting

You will initially Chief Product Officer (CPO) in Santa Monica, working closely with Directors of HW and SW engineering as well as Flight Operations. As Red 6 continues to grow, you will be provided the opportunity to grow your career and technical capabilities, toward a senior leadership role. This is a unique opportunity for a mid-level engineer of diverse experience set to not only shape the products of Red 6, but also their career track along the way toward director level position/career track toward system, product or flight test engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline from ABET accredited college/university
  • Master’s degree in Engineering and MBA, strongly preferred
  • 5+ years or greater experience in system engineering/flight test planning/execution
  • Experience in the establishment of system engineering and flight test processes, requirements and documentation
  • Experience and familiarly with concurrent development, integration, and laboratory/flight testing of complex electronic systems
  • Experience developing system level performance models
  • Ability to work with others from engineering and non-engineering disciplines in a fast-paced team environment 
  • Good oral presentation skills and comfort with customer interaction. Ability to write technical documents clearly and concisely 
  • Familiar with engineering analysis tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, CST, and other RF design tools 
  • Comfortable working in a high-performance engineering team with a dynamic system development process
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD security clearance
