Who we serve:


Two charter schools - are comprised of students, with autism and other neurological differences, emotional, learning, developmental, and intellectual disabilities, as well as other impairments.


Two residential facilities- serve males, females, and gender-diverse youth ages 11-17 at time of admission, who are in the custody of their parent/guardian, the Department of Social Services, or the Department of Juvenile Justice

Departments and Programs – consist of over 436 staff. IT provides excellent customer service, information technology resources, and support services through technological advancements that support and enhance the UMFS mission. UMFS IT provides support to Richmond (HQ) and satellite regional offices located in Edinburg, Virginia Beach, South Hill, Lynchburg, Farmville, Fredericksburg, Centreville, and Alexandria.


What we are looking for:


A well-round Computer Systems Analyst with experience in desktop support, server, and application support to carry out the responsibilities of the IT Department. This individual should have great customer service skills and interact accordingly with staff of varying technical knowledge.


Essential Areas of Support:


Desktop Support Services - Create Windows operating system images and roll-out to new computers. Provide desktop support duties to resolve issues with computers, peripherals, and networked printers.

Educational Technology Support Services - Provides IT support for two charter schools (Richmond and Edinburg). Students receive UMFS Chromebooks for educational learning. Reimage Chromebooks after each term. Handle requests to the student firewall allow/block lists.

Server Operating Support Services - Windows Server operating system support and updates. Utilize WSUS along with MS Endpoint Manager to push security updates to staff computers. Maintain network backups.

Application Support Services – Provides support for enterprise systems such as EHR system (Netsmart MyEvolv), Office365 Suite, Chrome for Education, DocuSign, Blackbaud Financial Edge'Razors Edge, Securly Classroom/Aware/Auditor, Freshservice Help Desk, SharePoint/OneDrive, RingCentral Message/Video/Phone, Insight, and Formstack. And other enterprise applications not listed but in use and others that might arise out of business necessity.

Infrastructure Support Services - work alongside our managed services provider to resolve any network issues that may arise at either location.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Provide excellent customer service while solving hardware and software issues, network connectivity issues, and other technology concerns presented by UMFS staff.
  • Respond to the computer needs of users within a complex network environment. Making the most use of remote-control software to reach off-site and regional offices staff computers and networked printers.
  • Manage workstations and servers. Update/Upgrade operating systems before end-of-life support.
  • Administer anti-virus/malware software on servers and workstations.
  • Possess a firm grasp of computer networking fundamentals Work alongside our managed service providers to administer a network environment that includes routers, switches, servers, workstations, printers, and other devices.
  • Maintain VMware-based virtual server environment. Escalate issues to managed services provider when needed.
  • Administer Microsoft systems/products to include Active Directory, Exchange, Enterprise 365, Group Policy Objects, log-on scrips, Endpoint Manager (Intune), Azure Enterprise Cloud services.
  • Administer and maintain VOIP system, cellular phones, and MiFi wireless access points.
  • Embrace cross-training opportunities as an integral member of the IT Team. As there are many applications in use, other staff members may act as primary and secondary to ensure all staff are well rounded in heavily used systems.
  • Travel to regional centers when remote support options have been exhausted. Other travel may be to the data center and or stores to pick up technology equipment. Other visits to regional offices may include upgrading of wireless access points, roll-out of new computers, new printers, network issues, etc. UMFS maintains a fleet of vehicles to choose from when travel is required.
  • Search out, configure, and implement technological efficiencies and advancements. Take advantage of education opportunities to include conferences, certifications, CBT, books, etc. for additional knowledge.
  • Administer EHR system support (Netsmart myEvolv). Skilled in report writing or more importantly Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Report Builder, and or PowerBI optional but greatly warranted if you possess those skills.


All other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience or associate degree and six years of relevant work experience.
