We are seeking a motivated, energetic, experienced Team Medical Assistant (MA) Lead. This is a full time position that may work out of multiple DMC practices locations. We are looking for someone with leadership experience.

SUMMARY

The Team MA Lead serves as a resource to all medical assistants on the team. They function as a role model demonstrating current MA responsibilities and technical skills for the patient population and providing new MA training. The Team MA lead helps and supports team MAs to evaluate patient’s needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Under the direct supervision of the Office Manager and the clinical guidance of the team nurse, and in collaboration with the providers, the successful candidate performs the following functions:

  • Assists in training new MAs on workflows including chart prepping, closing quality gaps, entering new or updating patient information, entering orders for labs, procedures &/or referrals in AllScripts EMR.
  • Works closely with providers to ensure new MAs are able to successfully support and perform all duties independently by completing 30- & 60-day clinical competency review.
  • Trains, educates, and monitors team MAs to meet clinical competencies annually; coordinates in-service training, continuing education, and other health clinical training. Responsible for tracking BLS status of team MAs.
  • Ensures that team MAs review and prepare charts as per DMC protocols.
  • Ensures that team MAs obtain and record patient vital signs and other stats in EMR.
  • Works closely with team MAs and the nurse to manage patient messages
  • Recognizes emergency situations, seeks assistance and intervenes appropriately. Monitors patient during and following procedures; looks for reactions and other visible complications; reacts to emergency situations; notifies the appropriate person in the event of a medical emergency.
  • Assists providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare and administer medications and immunizations as needed
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Communicates in a professional, respectful manner with patients, staff, peers and providers
  • Holds self and others accountable. Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
  • Other MA-related duties

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Possess training skills
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the clinic workflows and related issues and patient care concerns.
  • Ability to work and interact with patient care professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • 3+ years of MA experience in a clinic setting is required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Must possess BLS authorization upon employment in position and maintain during employment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all required procedures, competencies, and clinical skills.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday (days) plus being on-call for the Saturday rotation. Must be able to work additional hours as required to respond to the demands of the position.
