Description of Department:
Campus Technology Services (CTS) is an integrated service organization caring for administrative computing, instructional computing, network services, technology user support and telecommunications. The department delivers a broad set of infrastructure, applications and services that are vital to the operation and mission of the College. CTS is committed to an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion. The Department of Campus Technology Services at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for four Technology Support Professional (TSP) positions. TSPs provide technical hardware and software support for various academic spaces and administers software related to configuring, updating, supporting, and maintaining computers. Each TSP would be assigned and dedicated to serve one of the following academic areas:
- School of Business
- Penfield Library
- School of Education Department of Technology
- College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, STEM departments
The Campus Technology Services Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill full time Technology Support Professional positions.

Compensation: SL3, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Location: The individuals hired will start onsite at SUNY Oswego CTS until properly trained at which time a hybrid work schedule will be established where most days are onsite and some are partially or completely remote. The hybrid work schedule will be in accordance with the SUNY-wide Telecommuting Policy.
Description of Responsibilities:
The TSP positions are d between CTS and the academic area (listed above) they serve.
The CTS responsibilities of the position include:
- the installation, support and maintenance of computers (hardware and software) and printers across campus. This responsibility includes but is not limited to support of: general access computer labs, departmental computer labs, and advanced technology classrooms.
- the development of machine "images" to be used on desktops, laptops and mobile devices for the PC, Mac, iOS, Android and Linux platforms.
- the administration for various tools needed to configure, monitor, update, and support computers on campus. Follow appropriate change management procedures while making necessary updates to production software or hardware.
- the repair of Windows and Mac OS based hardware.
- responding and updating Help Desk tickets in a timely manner. Use the ticketing system to log work requests not routed through the Help Desk for reporting.
- the development and instruction of computer and software workshops.
- representation of CTS in Open House, New Faculty/Staff/Student Orientation and other events as necessary.
- development of utilities and documentation (online and printed).
- participation in committee, team and/or group projects.
In addition to the CTS responsibilities, each TSP will have specialized technical responsibilities for the academic area(s) they serve.
The TSP hired for the School of Business will have responsibilities for:
- Installation, configuration, and optimization of laboratory equipment and software including the Bloomberg Terminal, Taxwise software, School of Business textbook software, Mighty Networks engagement platform, One Button recording studio, Faronics Insight, Chromebooks with carts, and conference room equipment.
- Coordination with department faculty for equipment upgrades, replacements, budgeting, specification development, and planning.
The TSP hired for Penfield Library will have responsibility for:
- Serve as front-line liaison between Library and CTS for any technology related needs / issues, from problem identification through problem resolution in a timely manner.
- Install, support, and maintain library technology, including library-specific applications and library-specific equipment such as scanners and 3D printers. Facilitate access to library-specific technology/resources.
- Function as a resource to assist and advise Penfield Library in the purchase of new equipment, materials and software.
- Oversee, assist, and train student computer lab assistants.
- Participate as a valued member of the Library Department.
The TSP hired for the School of Education Department of Technology will have responsibility for:
- Installation, configuration, and optimization of laboratory equipment including the materials processing equipment, AutoDesk Suite, CNC software, 3D printing, and other specialized CNC instructional equipment.
- Interface with CNC equipment vendors for technical support and upgrades.
The TSP hired for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, STEM departments will have responsibility for:
- Maintain an inventory of computing equipment, network information, system configurations, licensing, and software used within the Departments.
- Interface with equipment vendors for technical support and upgrades.
- Function as a resource to assist and advise faculty in the purchase of new equipment, materials and software.
In addition, TSPs will need to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications: An associate degree or higher at the time of hire with a minimum of one year of professional experience supporting computer hardware or software. Other requirements include:
- Experience working with diverse groups/multicultural environments
- Computer-related troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities at the hardware and/or software levels.
- A familiarity with software and hardware on Windows and/or Macintosh based platforms.
- Experience working in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with and supporting the Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome operating systems
- Experience supporting mobile devices including iOS and Android devices
- Experience using support and ticketing tools such as Bomgar and ServiceNow
- Experience with desktop management software, especially creating images and pushing software updates to clients (e.g. Active Directory, LANDesk, Microsoft Enterprise Endpoint Manager, JAMF),
- Development of technical documentation
- Creation and teaching of technical workshops
- Understanding of ITIL concepts and/or ITIL Foundations certification
