The City of Fresno Airports Department is hiring for temporary, seasonal Custodians and invites you to be part of a dynamic team in providing excellent customer service to travelers and residents who visit Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) daily. Under supervision, Custodians perform routine custodial and minor building maintenance work in the upkeep and operation of City-owned and leased buildings and facilities. Custodians use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of large buildings, equipment, and facilities. May perform building security functions in conjunction with custodial duties, including security patrols, locking and unlocking exterior and interior doors, and the arming and disarming of electronic security devices.

The hourly rate for Temporary Custodian is $17.26. Compensation will be based on the number of actual hours worked.

Work schedules vary according to department operations, assignments and needs, and incumbents may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Pursuant to City of Fresno Charter, temporary employment shall not exceed 2,080 hours within 2 fiscal years; and may not exceed 29 working hours per week or if working up to 40 hours per week may not exceed 120 days. The City may also utilize this recruitment to fill limited, non-permanent assignments consistent with Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-256 (a) (2).

These are temporary employment opportunities which do not provide health benefits, or retirement and are not in any way a guarantee of permanent employment.


The Requirements


To qualify for further consideration, applicants must possess:

One year of continuous, full-time paid experience performing janitorial or custodial work (work gained while performing janitorial or custodial duties for large commercial buildings, schools, etc. is preferred).

Qualified applicants certified for consideration will be required to successfully pass a Department interview, extensive background investigation and Department of Justice fingerprinting process prior to employment with the City of Fresno.

This position requires the possession of a valid driver's license. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.
