Granite Academy is a dynamic day school for middle and high school-aged students who have emotional and psychiatric issues that complicate schooling, social interactions, and family life. Our staff provide flexible, individualized programming and are dedicated to meeting the needs of our students, their families, and the public school systems. We have an 11- month school year (202 days) and are located on a beautiful campus in Braintree, MA. Our team works with students individually and in small groups to support their full engagement in academic, vocational, social, and recreational activities that promote skill development, emotional well-being, and movement towards graduation.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a temporary RN or LPN for Mondays and Wednesdays from 8am to 2pm for the next 4-6 weeks.

The nursing position provides nursing management care services to students while on site at GA or participating in school-related functions. The school nurse will provide health services such as:

  • Assessment and evaluation of illness and injuries arising during the school day
  • Acute, emergency care and triage
  • Medication Administration monitoring; holding certification in Medication Delegation
  • Instructor for: CPR/AED/First Aid, Epinephrine Injector/Allergy Management, Naproxen Spray, Medication Administration, Blood borne Pathogens and Emergency Precautions
  • Implementation within a school day regarding student individual health and management plans including: allergies, seizure, diabetes, asthma/inhaler, dietary, specialized gym/physical activity, and medication administration
  • Support DESE requirements for school certification in the nursing department and maintaining student records which includes securing and/or administering DESE mandated health screenings
  • Psychoeducational information on assorted health topics

Requirements:

  • RN or LPN license in Massachusetts
  • Experience with adolescents with social emotional disabilities in a mental health or medical setting.
  • Strong organization skills while working in a flexible setting; ability to multi-task.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Google platforms.
  • Instructor certification for CPR/AED/First Aid is preferred.
