The Tooling Manager will be responsible for establishing and executing a long term parts making strategy for the corporation. Will manage all coordination between Manufacturing, Customer Services and Product Design for corporate tooling needs. Will be responsible for the machine shop and tooling strategies. This will include strategic planning, “hard” tooling design, procurement, and maintenance activities. This will include responsibilities for all tooling personnel across the corporation. Will be responsible for the CNC strategies. This will include strategic planning, procurement, programming, tooling/fixture development and process development to ensure execution of the strategic plan. This will include responsibilities for all CNC programmers across the corporation. Will lead and manage the implementation of various projects and processes in manufacturing to improve safety, quality, delivery and productivity. Will research, write and implement new capital equipment requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and participates on numerous continuous improvement events, including leading 2P and 3P events. Leads in the development of estimates for time, cost and quality for projects. Coordinates the specification, design and/or modification of specialty tooling, fixtures and machines. Sets policies, procedures, SOP’s, and manages liaison activities for Sales, CS and Product Design for pricing and coordinating job specific and market specific tooling. Promotes safety through training, design and actions. Job requires leadership, organizational and financial skills. Job requires product and process background. Job requires knowledge and background in machining. Must determine best utilization of EFCO’s machining assets. Must determine future state of EFCO’s machining processes. Any additional duties assigned by manager. Participates in EFCO's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – PLANT PROCESS (Plant):
Responsibilities: Responsible for the design of safe processes and/or equipment. Ensures that ergonomics are considered in all areas of design and that potential safety and health hazard are designed out of the project.
Manages projects from the development of initial business cases through the installation of equipment. Responsible for the implementation of assigned projects within manufacturing and plays a key role in the startup of new processes in production.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT (Plant):
Responsibilities: Conceives, develops and implements projects to improve total productivity in support of Safety, Quality and Productivity Teams. Participates in or directs activities to improve products, processes and/or equipment through application of Kaizen techniques, including Product/Process Preparation events. Provides engineering support to Continuous Improvement through the active participation in various Kaizen events (shop floor, business process, and/or product/process preparation). Enthusiastically participates on Kaizen team activities.
Must consistently demonstrate support and leadership in CI/lean activities through education of team, identification of improvement opportunities, and active participation in events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will manage a variety of hourly and salary employees that will be assigned to this position to implement projects and monitor processes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (IE or Manufacturing Engineering preferred) from four-year college or university; and 2 -3 years related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Word, Excel and Power Point. Has familiarity with CAD.
