Georgia-Pacific’s Continuous Manufacturing Group is seeking a motivated individual with proven abilities to multi-task and effectively communicate with customers to consider for our Transportation Specialist role at our Brewton, AL Containerboard mill. The Transportation Specialist is responsible for the optimization of Georgia-Pacific transportation’s cost and service to create long term value within the supply chain. This role creates value for the organization by managing customer orders, planning production schedules, and communicating with mill rail and truck carriers to ensure timely and accurate product shipment to our customers.

Our Team

The Brewton Mill produces white top linerboard and solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard. The SBS material is used to make GP's Dixie plates. White top linerboard is used in production of corrugated containers and displays. To learn more about our Bleach Board Division, visit www.gppackaging.com

What You Will Do

• Act as a liaison between, and build and sustain positive relationships with, customers, sales representatives, mill, outside warehouses, shipping, transportation, product supply and revenue management
  
• Provide prompt, professional, and accurate communication with customers that leads to joint problem-solving
  
• Practice Principled Entrepreneurship™ by applying the judgement, responsibility, initiative, economic/critical thinking skills, and sense of urgency necessary to generate the greatest contribution
  
• Demonstrate teamwork skills, multi-tasking, and asking questions for a deeper understanding of assigned responsibilities
  
• Ensure all businesses and customers are proactively and fully informed of shipment status by keeping up to date in the systems and supplying appropriate information
  
• Demonstrate self-initiative to continuously create efficiencies through creativity, experimentation, and innovation
  
• Utilize available tools to manage cost, service, and capacity through optimization processes
  
• Analyze transportation, logistics, and distribution activities in support of supply chain initiatives
  
• Manage product returns and refusals

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• High School diploma or GED
  
• Two (2) years of experience in a transportation, logistics, or customer service role
  
• Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word to write business correspondence, Excel for use of spreadsheets, reporting and simple formulas, and Outlook for internal and external correspondence

What Will Put You Ahead

• Associates degree or higher in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management
  
• Experience communicating with multiple departments in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  
• Transportation or logistics experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
