In this role as Client Advisor / Universal Banker you will support several Massachusetts banking offices in proactively developing new business opportunities and deepening relationships with existing clients, contributing directly to the growth of the office. You will gain invaluable experience functioning as a “trusted advisor” to banking clients by providing solutions and delivering exceptional service.


As you grow your career, you will work collaboratively with internal business partners to bring the entire bank’s capabilities to our clients. You will support the growth of the banking office, and also work in a universal role, handling any client needs from basic teller transactions to more complex banking / wealth management inquiries. As the ideal candidate, you will be expected to work independently and to learn proficiency in Cambridge Trust banking services.


In this role you will:

  • Market full range of services to every client through lobby leadership, outbound calling, marketing and banking center events
  • Effectively and efficiently resolve customer issues, looking for solutions proactively
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and adhere to bank policies and procedures
  • Develop a strong understanding of the bank’s capabilities across all business lines- deposits/banking, credit, and investment, for both personal and business goals for clients
  • Provide flexibility of coverage to other locations and fill in on teller line or perform teller functions as needed
  • Identify, build and strengthen relationships to increase community visibility, through superior and interactive client experience
  • Anticipate financial needs of client and offer solutions through knowledge of wide range of products, services, and expertise conveying the bank’s value propositions
  • Collaborate with business partners to bring the entire bank’s solutions to every client
  • Own interactions in the office from start to finish
  • Master technologies to support the clients
  • Proactively source, acquire, and expand high-value client relationships by maximizing sales and service opportunities
  • Maintain operational excellence and meet all required regulatory and compliance guidelines, policies and procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of customer service and cash handling experience
  • Experience interacting with clients, partners and team members in a professional and personable manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective decision making and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to flex in and out of various roles as needed for the client- including teller, platform.
  • Strong team player and ability to function in a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to personal growth, learning, and success.
  • Customer-centric, relationship-focused “growth” mindset.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated aptitude and desire for sales achievement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Strong background in financial institution operating policies and procedures, banking regulations (state and federal) and public relations
  • Prior experience making outbound calls to clients or business clients and/or prospects
  • Prior banking experience
  • Understanding of banking office technology for onboarding clients.
  • Strong knowledge of small business, mortgages, wealth management and lending services or a willingness to learn

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Frequent sitting and standing at a desk.
  • Heavy keyboard use.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, Monday through ½ day on Saturday.
