We are currently seeking an experienced VALVE MECHANIC for our facility in Houma, LA. All work is performed in a climate controlled shop.

JOB SUMMARY:

Assembles new valve products, repairs defective valves, actuators and related equipment and pipe fittings removed from service, following specifications and procedures using hand tools and power tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Dismantle and re-assemble customer equipment to shop order requirements
• Assemble equipment per shop orders for customers and inventory
• Recondition surfaces of sealing mechanisms to specified finish
• Clean parts using electric buffers and solvents
• Verify dimensions of parts using precision measuring equipment
• Assemble and repack equipment using hand tools
• Pressure test equipment on testing device to test at specified pressures
• Remove flanges and pipe fittings from pipe using wrenches and acetylene cutting torch
• Clean flanges and fittings using sandblasting equipment
• Operate a forklift and overhead crane

COMPETENCIES:

• Prior Mechanic experience
• Good command of the English language both verbal and written accompanied with good reading and interpretation skills
• Proficient in basic numerical computations
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Ability to handle problems involving several variables
• Must be able to operate a forklift and overhead crane
