Job Title: Volunteer Engagement Center (VEC) Coordinator Non-Exempt
Reports to: Volunteer Engagement Center (VEC) Manager
The VEC Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities in Harvesters' Volunteer Engagement Center, including project set-up, volunteer training, quality control, and safety. You will assist the VEC Manager with prioritizing volunteer projects to ensure product inventories are kept at adequate levels. To ensure quality in finished projects and also a rewarding volunteer experience, you will match volunteer projects with available volunteer individuals or groups. You will train volunteers on specific projects, follow up to ensure understanding of instructions and ensure quality control is maintained. This requires excellent customer service with both internal customers (employees) and external customers (volunteers, visitors, etc.). Harvesters will provide safe food handling training so that you can ensure compliance with all food safety and United States Department of Agriculture regulatory requirements, including American Institute of Baking guidelines and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. You will inspect produce for volunteer group gleaning projects and ensure that volunteers have adequate supplies to complete the projects safely.
The Volunteer Engagement Center operates six days a week (Monday – Saturday). Work hours will fall within department work operations. Employees will be scheduled to meet requirements of this operation. This position is assigned 8-hour shifts with availability 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, based on volunteer needs. There will be occasional overtime which may include Sundays and Mondays.
The VEC Coordinator functions in a warehouse environment. This requires the use of general office equipment, including computers, copiers and fax machines. It also requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and extensive walking through the warehouse 25% of the time. The Coordinator will spend 15% of working hours stationary at a computer terminal, 35% of the time operating equipment, such as a forklift, pallet jack or other machinery, and 25% of their time working with volunteers.

Qualifications:
- A high school education or equivalent is required.
- Must be computer literate. Must have a basic understanding of NAVISION computer program.
- Materials handling/warehouse experience is useful.
- Experience collaborating with and coordinating a diverse group of people is vital. Effective communication and interaction with coworkers, managers and customers/volunteers is essential.
