As a WIC Representative, you will work in a community-based setting under the guidance and support of the WIC Dietitian, determining WIC program eligibility, providing WIC-administrative and customer support services, to perinatal women, and the parents/legal guardians/caregivers of newborn to preschool-age children. Assist with orienting new participants, screening applicants and participants for WIC eligibility. Responsible for incoming calls. Ensures that correct food packages are issued to families on the WIC Program. Adheres to Scripps and California State WIC policies, and embracing California WIC philosophy of providing customer service and breastfeeding support. Provides administrative support to department.
This is a full-time position, with Saturday availability required minimum once a month. Must be willing to occasionally travel to different clinic locations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience in a community-based organization and/or not-for profit organization
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to perform basic math functions
- Strong customer service skills and works collaboratively with people of all ages, social, and ethnic backgrounds
- Experience working in a fast-paced office setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
- WIC Nutrition Assistant (WNA) or Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) Certifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish or other languages
- Comfortable working in shared spaces and providing support with the assistance of translation services
- Preferred knowledge of California WIC computer system
- Public speaking experience and experience working within a public health and/or social service organization
