GENERAL STATEMENT: The Maintenance Mechanic position performs various activities to provide a safe and productive workplace. This role supports the needs of manufacturing and facilities to ensure both are in top working order. Following a strict preventive maintenance schedule to lessen our exposure to downtime-related repairs and maintenance.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND JOB EXPECTATIONS:

  • Conduct one’s activities according to the local and corporate policies including attendance and safety.
  • Ensures machinery and mechanical equipment operation by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Support project plans for equipment installation.
  • Report shift metrics to capture the performance and/or areas for improvement. (Breakdown – Downtime) (Part Availability)
  • Generate necessary requisitions for review and ordering by Maintenance Mgr.
  • Adhering to the Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
  • Communications with Maintenance Mgr. on additional time requirements not captured in the schedule.
  • Perform all repairs following the procedures for Lockout – Tagout.
  • Properly inspect and maintain shop equipment, by OSHA regulations.
  • Identify, label, and stage parts for the equipment.
  • Lifting of 50 lbs. Unaided from floor to chest frequently.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ maintenance & troubleshooting experience in wide-web coating and converting environment
  • Ability to communicate needs clearly with management
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Lotus Notes.
  • Strong Math Skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Documentation requirements and procedures.
  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a "TEAM" environment and support a 24-hour operation.
