We are seeking an Aerospace Engineer to provide support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD. You will work on a variety of topics involving NAVAIR’s gas turbine engines, electrical and wiring systems, drive systems, and Auxiliary power units. Topics include: data collection and conversion, reliability degraders, trend analyses and predictive modeling. Be part of an exciting team making a difference for the US Naval Air Forces.
What you will do…
Your primary duties will involve data collection and conversion associated with reliability problems and providing advice and insight about the probable effects of these problems using rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis.
- You will perform scientific work that involves designing, developing, and adapting mathematical, statistical, financial, and other scientific methods and techniques.
- You will also be involved in analyzing platforms and producing predictive forecasting models in support of Propulsion and Power goals and objectives. The primary requirement of the work is competence in rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis; and a knowledge of NAVAIR’s Propulsion and Power processes and policies.
- You will be required to apply knowledge of statistical and financial methods, procedures, and techniques, to the collection, processing, compilation, computation, analysis, editing, and presentation of data.
- 12-15 years of experience with a BS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or other related technical field, MS 10-13. Phd 10+ and 15+ years of related academic or professional experience.
- 15+ years of experience in reliability, and manipulating and analyzing data sets
- 5+ years of experience NAVAIR Propulsion and Power processes and policies.
- 5+ years of experience with QlickSense software
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to be a self-directed team player with proven ability to deliver tasks timely and efficiently, and a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
- High level problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Experience in the aerospace, and/or defense industries
