Scrub Daddy is looking for a Full-time Assistant Controller at its corporate headquarters in Pennsauken NJ. The assistant controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or other financial reporting requirements. This position will be onsite with periodic weekend and evening work expected.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Accounting Team including Accounting Manager and Accounting Staff/Clerks
  • Reviews the work of the Accounting Manager and Accounting Staff/Clerks.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

Reporting

  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements and other management reports.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
  • Perform gross margin and net margin analysis at customer level and product level.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Assist in annual reviewed financial statements with external accountants.
  • Help prepare and maintain an annual budget.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Report on slow moving inventory and perform inventory analysis and coordinate movement of slow inventory with the sales department.
  • Maintained fixed asset and intangibles detail ledger.

Transactional

  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform month end, quarter end, and year end closings in tandem with the Financial Controller and Director of Accounting
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy.
  • Review and approve accounts payable invoices for proper period and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in accounts payable disbursement functions.
  • Review accounts receivable and incoming payments from customers

Supervision

  • Manage and assist in accounts receivable invoicing and collection processes.
  • Oversee recording cash receipts and bank deposits.
  • Provide back-up of the accounts payable functions
  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
  • Ensure supplier invoices are paid in a timely manner.

Other

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage outsourced functions.
  • Help maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and procedures.
  • Maintain SAP Business One data and keep system up to date.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements in SAP Business One

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Microsoft Outlook and Excel).
  • Experience with SAP Business One or related accounting software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration
  • 5 Years of Experience in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to move about the office and warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to liftup to 15 pounds at times.
