(TEMPORARY)

This position requires a licensed public school teacher for seasonal work at a summer STEM camp. The STEM Teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching one morning class (8:30-11am) and one afternoon class (12-2:30pm, Monday through Friday, for children ages 5 to 9. STEM camp topics vary each week.

Essential Functions:

• Teach summertime STEM classes to children ages 5-9
  • Effectively teach and manage classes of 20 children
  • Oversee guidance and safety of children
  • Communicate with parents and document their children's learning
  • Mentor BYU students assigned as support teachers
• Prepare classes
  • Plan and prepare daily lessons based on the weekly camp topic and appropriate Utah State core curriculum
  • Ensure daily and weekly cleaning is accomplished
  • Manage and order needed supplies for each camp

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
• Certified/licensed public school teacher
• 5 years of experience teaching in the public school system

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practices
• Knowledge of and abiltiy to plan integrated, hands-on lessons that address the whole child
• Understanding of social and emotional development for children ages 5-9 and ability to use this information to effectively guide young children in managing their emotions

Employee Class: 3/4 Time Contract (28 hour)
