Schedule: M-F (Some Saturdays) 30 Hours


Job Overview:

We are seeking a high energy and passionate Manager to oversee our Coffee Shop called the Castle Rock Collective. The ideal candidate will join us in our amazing mission of empowering the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for someone with patience, high energy, excellent problem-solving skills, and communication skills to join our team. Must enjoy working in an innovative atmosphere and have the capacity to be very flexible in our fast-paced environment.


The Collective Store Manager is responsible for providing ongoing leadership, management, and motivation to volunteers and baristas as they oversee the success of the retail and coffee shop business enterprises. The Store Manager embraces the Mission Statement of Wellspring Community: To provide a work, enrichment, and educational community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are empowered to live full, productive, and satisfying lives in a God-centered and nurturing environment. The Retail Manager’s Goals and Objectives will be consistent with the Mission Statement, Vision, and Core Values of Wellspring Community and will further advance our mission.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Director of Business & Finance and is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations at The Collective.
  • Budget management, oversight and implementation of marketing and promotion campaigns within the Collective to increase overall sales, revenues and acquire new customers.
  • Cultivate creative strategies in conjunction with our Art Studio and Bakery to develop and implement new opportunities for our STARS to increase productive utilization of time and create new revenue streams.
  • Implements initiatives that support the overarching strategic initiatives developed by the leadership team and approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Provides inspiring leadership and empowerment to volunteers and STAR staff. Serves as a coach, leader, and mentor to all direct reports. The intent of the Collective is to be a place that is primarily run by STAR staff and volunteers.
  • Works closely with management team to implement strategic plans and develop reporting measurements to track the success of The Collective.
  • Represents Wellspring Community and World Orphans with external constituency groups, including the special needs population we serve, local governments, business leaders, volunteers, and fund-raising supporters of Wellspring Community and World Orphans. Must be able to represent and support the faith centeredness of both organizations.
  • Promotes ethical and responsible decision-making to ensure that all team members act with the utmost integrity and objectivity, always striving to embrace our core values.
  • Work in collaboration with other business managers (Bakery, Art Studio, STARS Cooperative, World Orphans, Landlord, and any new business initiatives) to ensure that the Collective is a true collaboration and represents each business interest fairly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Business and Finance.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate organizational efficiencies and productivity.
  • Must be able to understand financial statements, financial security and controls, and fiscal performance.
  • Ability to intervene in delicate and difficult employee relations with candor, restraint, confidentiality, and wisdom.
  • Excellent time management skills and able to multi-task.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Prior retail or other related field experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in people management, motivation, and development of direct reports, preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals that present physical, emotional, cognitive, and mental health challenges preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience operating typical Coffee Shop equipment a plus.
  • Knowledge or experience using POS (Point OF Sale) preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and medical test.

Physical Requirements:

Normal work environment is in an office, classroom, bakery, restaurant, and craft workshop setting, which involves some physical risks requiring basic safety precautions. This position routinely requires sitting, standing, bending/stooping, operating a computer for extended periods, and lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds. The vision abilities required by this job include close vision. This position requires frequent walking throughout the Wellspring Community offices and facilities and may require walking up and down flights of stairs. Must be able to provide personal transportation to multiple meetings offsite from Wellspring Community.
