This is a 1.0 FTE position.
LOCATION: Kentridge Senior High School
Kentridge High School has a wonderfully diverse student population and a staff dedicated ensuring a quality learning experience for all students. Kentridge is noted for its strong emphasis on academics and co-curricular activities and enjoys strong community support.
- Appropriate Washington State Career and Technical Education (vocational) certification in appropriate field required and must be on file prior to beginning work.
- Additional experience in related field/subject.
- Ability to exhibit multicultural and ethnic understanding and sensitivity with the ability to communicate effectively with all cultural groups in the school community.
- English Language Learners (ELL) endorsement.
- Experience working with a diverse student population and the specific school demographics preferred.
- Candidate must be able to work cooperatively with a team of teachers.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to work with adult learners.
- Must maintain positive learning environment and ability to relate to all students, parents and colleagues.
- Candidate should be knowledgeable of differing student learning styles and cooperative learning and teaching students of varying abilities.
- Must have excellent management skills.
- Candidate must be willing to participate in or supervise extracurricular student leadership activities/advisory groups for subject matter outside of school hours.
- Must be willing to share professional skills with other staff members.
- Prefer candidate with excellent technology skills and can use and incorporate computers/technology into curriculum.
- Experience working with middle to high school level students.
- Desired teacher characteristics are: flexibility; ability to organize ideas, time and materials to accomplish goals; enthusiasm; ability to express ideas clearly and understand concepts being discussed; ability to learn new ideas and skills; ability and willingness to develop favorable relationships with students; knowledge of current approaches to teaching; and willingness to model behavior deemed appropriate by the school district and the community.
