Job Summary:

The Digital Archivist is primarily responsible for processing, documenting, and managing digital materials given and created. This position includes the creation of metadata records and strategies and guidelines regarding the creation, storage, preservation, organization, description, and access of these materials for future use.

Job Duties:
Analyzes, develops, and proposes appropriate strategies, risk criteria, and industry standards for the digital archives program to preserve historical and born-digital archival records. Acquires, arranges, processes, and preserves digital archival materials. Safeguards intellectual property and digital assets in coordination and collaboration. Creates indexes, meta tags, descriptions, and other associated information for archival materials. Digitizes archival material as needed. Identifies processes and creates process documents for digitizing all types of digital media. Researches and responds to reference questions from internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates on special projects with colleagues from across the enterprise. Performs other duties as directed.

No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional two (2) years of experience in a related field.


COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should have knowledge of Database software and Development software


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
