The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a middle school English Teacher for 7th and 8th grade. We seek culturally responsive individuals who foster a love of learning and inspire students to attain the highest level of success.

Job Summary:

The role of a middle school English teacher is to instruct students on how to use the English language correctly through reading, writing, and analyzing literature and informational text. These professionals also help students develop writing skills through assignments in the areas of argument, narrative, and literary analysis.

We are looking for engaging middle school English teachers with 7-12 English certification and experience in creating a supportive learning environment that will help students meet their learning goals. Through interesting and diverse methods, you'll teach them the important rules of reading, writing, and speaking in English. You'll oversee their progress by tracking their assignment and exam grades, in order to provide useful feedback.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Teach lessons reflecting the skills necessary to master the Next Generation NYS ELA Standards for 7th and 8th grade

• Meet the needs of your diverse learners.

• Work collaboratively with members of the English Department and with members of your grade-level team.

• Keep lines of communication with families open in order to inform everyone of the student's progress.

• Prepare students for district and state assessments.

• Be comfortable using technology and is up-to-date with the Google suite

• Other duties as assigned by the Principal and K-12 ELA Supervisor.

The ideal candidate effectively utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and techniques while incorporating students' cultural identities and experiences into an inclusive educational environment that will promote and engage multiple learning styles.
