Job Description
GDIT is looking for Exercise Planners that have extensive military staff experience in one of the Warfighting Functions (WFF) at the Brigade and above level. Applicants that meet the preferred requirements, might qualify for Exercise Planner Lead positions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Exercise Planner for the XVIII Airborne Corps’ MTC, you must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Corps and Division level operational planning and exercise scenario development.
An Exercise Planner will work as part of a distributed team of SMEs across XVIII Airborne Corps and must be self-motivated, able to produce high quality, doctrinally accurate, and operationally relevant Operations Order (OPORD) packages, and work with the customer to identify program requirements and develop OPORD package milestones.
The Exercise Planning Team shall develop and write OPORD packages for the Corps and below to include OPORD, annexes, attachments, graphics (analog and digital), databases, and data products (overlays, MRF, etc.) compatible with the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE), current doctrine, and relevant threat data (OPFOR SITTEMP, MRF, etc.) to facilitate unit training.
The Exercise Planner will coordinate with the HUB MTC at Ft. Bragg and all Corps’ Spoke MTCs to develop two Corps OPORD packages per year, and four Division OPORD packages per year.
Additionally, Exercise Planners will need to coordinate with each MTC’s collective training team during event lifecycle planning to adjust OPORD packages for specific training events, adjust for appropriate echelon training level, and assist with developing products for EXCON/HICOM.
Requirements:
Expert in current Army and Joint Doctrine
Knowledgeable of the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE)
Bachelor’s Degree
7+ years of military staff experience at the battalion level and above
MEL 4, Command and General Staff College (CGSC) or service equivalent graduate
Demonstrated experience with multi-echelon (Brigade and above) OPORD development
Secret Clearance
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) graduate
MEL 1, Senior Service College (SSC) graduate
Served as a primary staff officer at the Brigade (or above) level
Served as a Division (or above) level planner
5+ years experience with the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) process

Additional:
Normal work schedule is 0800-1630, may require night or weekend work shifts depending on specific training event requirements
May require occasional travel (less than 10%)
