Job description
Essex Westford School District is seeking a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Essex High School, beginning in the 23/24 school year. This role will teach courses such as Foods courses, Sewing and Fiber Arts, Interior Design, and Child Development. EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Folks with experience working in another country, the ability to fluently speak more than one language, and/or peace corp. experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Holds or is eligible to hold a valid VT Educator license with applicable endorsement.
  • Commitment to ensuring equitable access to learning for all students.
  • Uses standards-based learning strategies collaboratively with a PLC group and can provide academic intervention for students needing support with the proficiency of a standard.
  • Commitment to proficiency-based assessment and learning.
  • Differentiates instruction to ensure that each student is learning at their proximal development zone.
  • Provides quality formative assessment feedback to students and can adjust instruction based on assessment results.
  • Understanding of the importance of social emotional learning to the success of our students.
  • Expertise in utilizing technology to support instruction.
  • Strong organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Skilled in using pedagogical strategies to engage students.
