In-Process Inspector
Job description
Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing is looking for a detailed and precise professional to join our team as an In-Process Inspector.
This position inspects parts to ensure quality during the production process of small, metal, precision-stamped metal parts--primarily for the aerospace industry.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
The primary tasks that this inspector position will be responsible for include:
Use of Quality Inspection Requirements
- Attend trainings on quality inspection requirements and procedures
- Read and interpret quality inspection documentation
- Apply knowledge from training and inspection documentation to inspection of small, metal, parts
Visual Inspection
- Visually inspect small, metal, aerospace parts
- Ensure that parts meet the required quality standards and specifications for visual appearance as per training and documentation
Perform Inspection Procedures In the Correct Sequence
- Follow inspection procedures in the correct order using the methods listed on Process Sheets, Operation Sheets, Blueprints, Drawings, and other technical documentation
- Ensure product conformity to the standard
Manual Inspection Layout
- Use conventional layout inspection methods, tools, and equipment to correlate and verify inspection results
- Use conventional layout inspection methods, tools, and equipment to correlate and verify that the quality of parts falls within the correct tolerance range as written in the provided documentation
Submit Documentation
- You will need to submit reports on the parts you have inspected
- You will need to feel comfortable writing down the information from the results of your inspection on a form
- There is no one to delegate this task to, you are not supervising report writing, you are writing reports from inspections that you have performed yourself
Necessary Skills
The following skills will be necessary to perform this job satisfactorily. Please note that within a week working as an In-Process Inspector, the company will know whether or not you have these skills.
Metrology
- Caliper Use - measure parts using calipers
- Micrometer Use - measure parts using micrometers
- Gage Use - measure parts using a gage
- Optical Comparator Use - measure parts using an optical comparator
Technical Document Interpretation
- Blueprint, Specification, and Procedure Reading - You will need to be proficient reading blueprints, specifications, and procedures
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Interpretation
- You will need to be able to interpret the information from a blueprint and your part measurements to determine if the part was produced to tolerance standards written on the blueprint
Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Working knowledge of statistical process control
Report Writing
- Enter data from inspections onto forms
Quality Systems Knowledge
- Atlas is AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 certfied. We have a quality management system manual and the procedures and work instructions must be followed
Computer Skills
- Outlook - You must be able to send an email with an attachment to multiple people without assistance
- Excel - You must be able to enter data into Excel
- Database - You must be able to enter data into a database
- Copy and Paste - You must be able to copy information from one place in a computer program and paste it into another place in a computer program without assistance
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking up to 40% of work time
- Bend and lift up to fifty pounds without assistance

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
