Internal Claims Examiner - Casualty Lines
The internal examiner is responsible for the oversight of workers compensation, commercial auto liability, and general liability claims. The examiner will coordinate and oversee initial investigations, provide direction to regional staff, evaluate ultimate exposure to the Company, and proactively engage with Third-Party Administrators claims personnel and panel counsel to protect the Company.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Provide claim oversight by utilizing Third-Party Administrators integrated multi-modal information sharing systems.
- Create and maintain a strong working rapport with the Third-Party Administrators claims personnel. Confirm that the claims personnel follow all assigned Client Service Instructions.
- Document claim status updates and strategy within internal RMIS every 30-days, or as material changes occur.
- Ensure all claims are appropriately reserved for the most likely outcome.
- Review and authorize compensability determinations, reserve recommendations, and settlements within desk authority. Seek internal authority when appropriate.
- Provide regional managers, supervisors, and other designated field personnel with high-level claim updates and financial impact reports. Work with the regional teams to ensure active engagement with injured employees.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and monthly individual reviews with the Claims Manager.
- Participate in quarterly claim reviews with Third-Party Administrators, the internal claims team, and broker.
- Actively participate in the litigation management process of claims to resolution.
- Utilize internal predictive data analytics to address reserve changes, claim closures, expert selection, litigation avoidance, attorney selection, and strategy changes.
- Remain current with evolving case law within assigned jurisdictions.
- Additional duties as required by management including internal trainings, mediation and trial attendance, subrogation oversight, and jurisdictional changes.
Requirements
- Three to five (3-5) years of claim management experience
- Demonstrated success managing litigation, evaluating, and negotiating commercial auto liability and general liability exposures
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with prior experience interfacing with executive leadership
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Excellent time management tools
- Designations (CPCU, ARM, AIDA, etc.) preferred, but not required
- Bachelor s degree
