Job Title: Recycling Sorter Laborer
Location: Capitol Heights, MD
Pay Rate: $15.00

POSITION SUMMARY - The Recycling Sorter Laborer is responsible for ensuring proper placement, sorting, and discarding materials on the conveyor line.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Recycling Sorter Laborer be responsible for:
- Manually sorts recyclables collected from curbside and delivered to the facility on a mechanized picking line (e.g., separating plastics, cardboard, glass, aluminum, steel, paper, etc.)
- Processes and operates equipment of the facility as required
- Maintains adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner
- Performs custodial and other housekeeping duties (i.e., cleaning the processing floor, workstation, break room, bathroom, etc.)
- Follows all required safety policies and procedures
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
- Yellow hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots, equipment break away vests, rubber palm gloves, safety sleeves and other PPE equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have 1 year of environmental services, waste management, or experience in a similar position
- Must be able to move at a fast pace with speed and accuracy
- Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Must be able to maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Must be able to perform independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time while performing essential duties and responsibilities
- Must have some working knowledge of the precautions necessary to work safely with and around heavy equipment and public works equipment
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must maintain all safety equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety vests, goggles, steel toe boots, etc.).
- Must be able to have steel toed boots on the first day of work

EDUCATION
- Must have a High school diploma or GED equivalent
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- The work entails the performance of physical activities including walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying possibly heavy objects. The work will entail the individual to be able to concentrate and pay attention for long periods of time. The work will contain you in a stationary position for long periods of times. This environment is indoors and outdoors of the facility. This is a fast pace moving environment and must be able to, collaborates well with others and proactively contributes to group objectives
WORKING HOURS
- Monday through Friday 4:45 am – 3:30 pm (Some Saturdays maybe required)

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. Sponsorship will not be a part of this contract
- Must successfully complete a successful background
- Must be able to perform manual labor for extended shifts and possible weekends
