City Experiences is seeking a Ship Engineer for our Seaward Services operation.

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.
About the Opportunity:
You will be responsible for overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of all critical engineering plants. You will supervise and provide technical support to US Navy crew members as well as Seaward’s junior engineers. You will direct all types of inspections, repairs, and testing of marine equipment with a demonstrated knowledge of ship operations, reliability engineering, maintenance concepts, programs, and procedures. Work will concentrate at the pier or in the yard to ensure functionality, with multiple sea trials throughout the year to test and prepare the vessel for operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct all types of inspections, repairs and testing of marine equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ship operations, reliability engineering, maintenance concepts, programs, and procedures
- Development of work items, drawings, analysis, cost estimate and technical reports for various ship repair projects
- Work cohesively with COMLOG WESTPAC Ship Repair Unit (SRU) leadership.
- Effectively communicate the status of operations daily via written or voice communications
- Generate detailed reports in a clear, concise, and timely manner, and provide detailed summary reports at the completion of operations.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessel’s Engineering Officer.
- Operate the vessel appropriate to the parameters of the US Navy.
- Perform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule.
- Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks when needed.
- Develop work items, drawings, analysis, costs estimates and technical reports for various ship repair projects.
- Maintain daily logs.
- Make emergency repairs when needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean engine room.
- Train new engineers as required.
- Ensure that the performance and behavior of engineers meets legal and professional requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Report any significant issues to the HM&E OSR immediately
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline (or equivalent experience)
- USCG MMC
- A valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Have and maintain a valid U.S. Passport. S. Citizenship is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience using Microsoft office software.
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to engineering problems.
- Possess and demonstrate superior mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and other skills exercised in engineering management of a large motor vessel. Gas turbine experience preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience on complex repairs in the marine environment and have experience conducting inspections, surveys, and repairs onboard US Navy vessels.
- Demonstrate appropriate management and administrative skills.
- Coordination of technical personnel and management of subcontractors from numerous labor trades including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), riggers, crane operators, transportation, and industrial marine trades
- Utilize proven training and mentoring techniques.
- Possess a thorough understanding of all-pertinent regulations and laws.
- Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
- Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments.
- Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Set and achieve high standards of performance.
- Demonstrate initiative and be able to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints.
- Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Marine Gas Turbine Engine experience preferred.
- Water Jet Experience preferred.
- Specific training and experience in management of major on-board systems by type and brand.
- Excellent career record in the marine industry.
- Ability to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis; ability to work long hours each day.
- Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently.
- Ability to carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing upwards of 50 lbs.
- Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely.
- Ability to manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job.
- Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel.
- Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job.
- Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel’s station bill.
- Be able to acquire and maintain a Secret Clearance.
