The Asset Management Investment Operations job leads operational activities for the investment function. This job manages a department or small unit including multiple teams that are responsible for performing operational processes pertinent to trade processing, settlements, securities transfer and record maintenance. This job leads policy and strategy implementation for short to mid-term results (1-3 years) and ensures talent development of the team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Leads various asset management operational processes, including trade processing, settlements, and securities transfers, as well as the preparation of financial statements and performance reports, ensuring quality and accuracy.

  • Ensures proper trading and balancing of institutional accounts and compliance with model portfolios from portfolio managers.

  • Champions the development and implementation of process improvement strategies and initiatives in order to improve operational efficiencies.

  • Develops strategic plans and procedures for managing risk in transactions.

  • Ensures compliance with investment restrictions, laws, Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), tax codes, and other corporate and regulatory policies by overseeing the implementation and monitoring of operational processes.

  • Collaborates with legal counsel and outside auditors on filings, examinations, reporting, and other related tasks as needed.

  • Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional operational processes and to foster team member engagement, motivation, and development.

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Head of Derivative Operations to lead and drive forward the support of the firm’s derivatives business. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute to the growth and continued success of the organization and will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of our Derivatives and Collateral Operations. This is a senior role that will have responsibility for all operational aspects of derivative processing and will include a team responsible for outsourcing oversight and direct operational responsibilities. In this role the leader will be responsible for staying abreast of regulatory changes and the continued enhancement of policies and processes.
Experience:
  • 8+ years in experience in the financial services industry and direct leadership of derivatives, 10+ years preferred
  • Deep understanding of derivatives end-to-end and is connected and active with industry groups driving efficiencies in the operational support in the derivatives space.
  • In depth knowledge of derivatives products including interest rate, FX, equity derivatives, TRS, TBA’s, Repos, CDS, CDX and Commodity Derivatives.
  • Proven experience leading teams with a combination of direct accountability of processes and oversight of an outsourced provider.
  • Leadership managing complex processes with cross functional stakeholder groups including trading, financial risk management, technology, broader operations, compliance, and risk.
  • Functional knowledge of CSA’s, MSFTA’s, MRA’s and FCM.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to Swap and Security Based Swap Dealers. Examples include Dodd-Frank Protocols, ISDA based transaction confirmations, Collateral Management, SWIFT Payment and messaging protocols for Foreign Exchange transactions, CFTC & DTCC regulatory trade reporting & reconciliations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and critical thinking skills.
  • MBA preferred
Base Pay Range: $173,900/yr. - $289,900/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
