Mechanical Engineer II Job Description

We are looking to add a full-time Mechanical Engineer II to our team in Beltsville, MD. This position reports to the Mechanical Engineer III and... will work intimately with R&D and Manufacturing to help development the first generation of ION's state-of-the-art solid-state battery technology. The Mechanical Engineer II will lead specific development projects related to design and manufacturing challenges.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop battery cell components and assemblies with guidance from R&D and Manufacturing

Develop component and system verification procedures

Support battery cell prototyping and fabrication efforts

Support product development efforts using engineering best practices such as DFMEA, Decision Matrices, and Design of Experiment

Maintain detailed documentation for all phases of work

Required Experience:

3-7 years of product development and manufacturing experience

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Required Skills:

Experience working in R&D labs and manufacturing environments

Excellent problem solving skills

Familiarity with CAD software such as Solidworks or Creo

Strong Design for Manufacturing DFM experience

Experience with fabrication of small, precision parts
