Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $33.69 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 5605 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
The Mpox Immunization Equity Health Educator will work within the Immunization Brach to develop and coordinate the implement the Mpox vaccine strategy and provide guidance and technical assistance to the Mpox workgroup, healthcare providers, local health departments, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders. The position will support education and outreach efforts including vaccination and education events held around the state. The position reports to the Immunization Branch Equity Program Manager. This position requires a thorough understanding of, and experience in, public health practice and evidence-based public health principles focused on advancing health equity. This position is with the Immunization Branch (IB) in the North Carolina Division of Public Health. The position will work with other members of the IB, as well as the Monkeypox (Mpox) workgroup comprising the NC Department of Health and Human Services partners. The position is currently expected to end on January 31, 2025, and allows for a hybrid work schedule. The position is based in Raleigh. The position will partner with workgroup members and other stakeholders in addressing routinized Mpox response and facilitating opportunities that address health disparities while improving access to Mpox and other testing services, vaccines, and treatment for marginalized communities.

General knowledge of methods and techniques of disseminating health educational information.- General knowledge of modern health education theories and techniques.
- General knowledge of community assessment techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and public health education.
- Experience in applying the principles and practices of community health education at the local level.
- Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating environmental health education programs.
- Ability to organize and coordinate public health education programs.
- Ability to build broad-based, and sustainable partnerships and coalitions.
- Ability to conduct all phases of a comprehensive and collaborative community health assessment;
- Ability to coordinate the production and distribution of audience–specific materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with audiences having wide ranges of educational backgrounds.
- Ability to effectively use computers and software such as word-processing, publishing, and presentation software.
Master s degree in Public Health Education or Public Health with a major in public health education from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor s degree with a major in health education from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in public health education or a related field; or Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
