Flathead Valley Community College promotes excellence in lifelong learning, focused on student success and community needs. Their Lincoln County Campus is located in Libby, MT and provides access to quality education for students in the region. Their Makerspace offers college students, local schools, community members, faculty, and staff opportunities to 3D print, engrave, and otherwise create or tinker. The goal of this project is to increase community engagement in Makerspace programming, thereby inspiring youth to pursue careers and education in STEM fields, and providing community members with knowledge and skills to foster entrepreneurship. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will create meaningful lesson plans, host makerspace sessions, and coordinate experiential learning opportunities, especially with high school juniors and seniors from Lincoln County High Schools.
