Purpose of the Position:
The Pre-Health Program Manager will be a full-functioning academic advising professional who serves as a resource for the College of Science and other University students transitioning to graduate degrees in pursuit of professional positions.
Duties/Responsibilities

- Determines strategic and tactical priorities of the Pre-Health Office
- Maintains a budget for the Pre-Health Office
- Directs social media presence of the Pre-Health Office
- Develops assessment, training and reporting procedures for the Pre-
- Supervises Pre-Health Office staff
- Runs and manages the Pre-Health advising space
- Supports Pre-Health students through resume and application preparation, including reference letter reviews and mock interviews
- Serves as a resource and support for Pre-Health-specific questions by staff and faculty advisors in students’ assigned colleges
- Advises students on internships and job shadowing
- Plans and implements workshops for Pre-Health students, including guest speakers
- Some travel required to schools for recruiting (high schools and community colleges) and networking (medical schools), fairs, and health career days
- Leads Pre-Health events and new student orientation sessions, including presentations and student engagement activities
- Teaches a 1-cr course BYS 100 Intro Health Professions
- Serves as an advisor for some of the Pre-Health student clubs on campus
- Manages a peer-advising program among current Pre-Health students
- Tracks metrics for longitudinal evaluation of pre-health advising, student success, and graduate school applications
- Knowledgeable about the curriculum majors and minors in the COS that are pursued by Pre-Health students and able to guide them in accordance with their interests
- Participates in the recruitment of potential students
- Able to answer basic questions regarding potential courses and plans of study
- Displays sensitivity in addressing the unique and sometimes complex learning and socio-economic needs of students
- Actively contacts Pre-Health students who are not registering for the next term and assists them so that they can be successful and continue to pursue their degrees.
- Provides pre-enrollment advising (advising perspective students on potential courses and plans of study)
- Monitors student progress and develops proactive retention plans based upon students’ academic and socio-economic needs and circumstances
- Engages and supports at-risk and non-traditional students in order to promote student success and persistence
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 years of full-time verifiable academic advising work experience
- Experience using Banner, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
- Must have excellent verbal, written, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of academic advising techniques
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education academic environment is desired
