Job Summary:

The Production Utility Worker is a year round position from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The primary duties will change on an as needed basis primarily depending on the time of the year.

Duties include operating the Wash-Wheel/Tumbler by loading and unloading textiles into equipment, monitoring processes, and transporting textiles to the next phase of production; the other duties are continuously grasps, sorts and grades clean textiles and then either folds by hand or feeds into an ironer or folding machine for final finishing. Performs other tasks as required.

Essential Functions:

• Load, unload and operates washers, tumblers, extractors, lifts, hoists and/or other equipment,
• Maintain an efficient flow of textiles and supplies in these processes and monitor quality,
• Report malfunctions or problems promptly,
• Correctly input data into washing/drying systems,
• Transport textiles to and from the work area,
• Grasp textiles from a cart/bin then sort, inspect and grade accordingly to quality standards,
• Fold, assemble and package by hand different types and sizes of textiles,
• Feed different types and sizes of textiles into ironers or folding machines,

• Place finished product onto conveyors or into carts, dump slings of product onto work tables
• Move loaded or empty carts/bins within the production area,
• Process textiles according to type and written packing instructions,
• Continuously meet efficiency and safety standards for the position,
• Follow instructions as directed by supervisor,
• Keep work area neat and clean.

Additional Functions:

• Work in other production positions as needed.

Qualifications:

• Recognize colors and sizes, count and different types of product,
• Perform basic math of adding, subtracting and counting,
• Recognize, inspect and grade product,
• Comprehend and follow written packing instructions,
• Comprehend and follow direction,
• Meet physical demands of the job.

Typical Physical Activity:

• Physical demands involve heavy work and frequent kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting up to 90lbs,
• Must be able to meet the physical demands throughout the entire shift.

Typical Environmental Conditions:

• Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint and dust. Soiled textiles come from a variety of customers such as restaurants, hotels, medical facilities and shops.
