Job Summary: HSE Coordinator will provide full-time HSE support to the operations. Must have strong commitment to safety and support development and implementation of the organization's Health, Safety and Environment policies and programs to the employees. Ensures all practices are in compliance with Hydro safety and regulatory requirements. Assists in coordinating regulatory programs and its permitting applications. Support the development & coordination and training of safety programs in support of plant operation. Maintain high employee engagement on HSE.
Required Education/Experience:
- Associate degree
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety role.
- Day Shift, Work rotational shifts as needed
- Knowledge of process related standards
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- HSE Manufacturing Experience
Competencies:
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office including excel and word)
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external
- Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize effectively
- Ability to think critically, analytically and theoretically
- Maintain current awareness of technical aspects of the organization’s business and related issues and develop approaches to maintaining compliance with emerging issues and legislation.
Job Responsibilities:
Practices safe working techniques with the employees and re-enforces the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures set out by the Company- Provide daily guidance and direction in HSE programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach
- Inspects workplaces and minimizes or eliminates hazards from processes, such as incorrect working methods and materials, such as potentially toxic chemicals.
- Implement and oversee employee safety engagement initiatives and incentive programs.
- Identify health, safety and environmental training requirements.
- Assist in developing training programs and evaluation methods. Educate employees by conducting training programs. Coordinate training schedules and maintain related training documents.
- Assist with accident investigations and reporting programs.
- Maintain and educate hazard response plans and systems.
- Conduct new employee and contractor safety orientations and safety training programs.
- Conduct inspections of facilities to determine potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures as required.
- Follow and comply to environmental regulations. Manage waste and/or reduce the business’ carbon footprint to include air quality, ergonomics and other concepts in the workplace for the well-being and health of all employees and persons involved
- Maintain and update as needed SOP’s and work Instructions for all safe work practices and equipment.
- Assist in environmental permitting as required.
