JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises safety professionals within the Safety Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these safety professionals directly reporting to employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Assure alignment of safety plans with corporate goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Provide strategic and visionary leadership and actively participate with site management in developing a culture that assures safety in all work performed. Communicate and execute plans to achieve the approach safety goals. Assure alignment of such plans with corporate goals.
· Claims management, injury, vehicle and asset
· Manage direct reports including performance reviews, mentoring and coaching.
· Environmental programs including policy development and execution, strategic planning and goal setting.
· Health and Safety Management Systems development and execution, statistical analysis, tracking and trending of health and safety, audits and inspections and strategic planning and goal setting.
· Oversee training development and execution.
· Promote the ZERO ACCIDENT philosophy
· Perform or assist in near miss, equipment damage and injury investigations
· Administer safety orientation program to acquaint employees with site conditions, safe work practices, policies and procedures
· Perform field audits/observations, develop corrective actions from audit/observation findings and track corrective actions to completion
· Lead emergency response team
· Coordinating safety activities with the Customer, as necessary
· Monitoring subcontractors’ compliance with applicable safety requirements
· Conducting required safety training in support of company and project needs
· Interpreting safety and health regulations, as necessary
· Develop site-specific safety processes and procedures, as necessary, to support the overall project plan
· Completing and filing timely safety reports, as required
· Advising employees of hazardous conditions/concerns or near miss incidents
· Establish site safety committees and conduct appropriate meetings
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
· Subject to extreme heat during the summer seasons.
· Subject to hazards infrequently during inspections. Including a variety of physical conditions, such approximately to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
· Drug Free Workplace: New Employees must submit and successfully pass post –offer drug screening.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):
· Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist infrequently.
· Kneeling: Infrequently
· Standing: Remaining upright on feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
· Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
· Talking: Frequently expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
· Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
· Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
· Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
· Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety, engineering or related field
· 5 years of related experience or 3 years if possess a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
· OSHA 30
· Knowledge of DOT regulations required
· CPR First Aid Instructor
· OSHA 500 Instructor/Trainer
· Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)

· Must adapt with minimal or no advance notice
· Must be able to perform other related duties as required
LICENSES:
· Valid Driver’s License
