Safety Representative (EHS)
Job description
We are looking for a EHS Technician to facilitate compliance with OSHA, RCRA, NCDEQ, Corporate, and Company regulations and to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health, safety, and environmental issues. The EHS Technician will assist on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations and be on a constant lookout for not following stated regulations.
The work will be largely focused on prevention; so, the perfect candidate will need to be responsible, conscientious, and farsighted, detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies.
Responsibilities:
· Support the development of EHS policies and programs
· Stay up to date of the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations, and best practices
· Assist with Implementing EHS protocols and measures to ensure compliance with regulations
· Assist on various safety and environmental topics, such as noise levels, stormwater samples, hazardous wastes etc.
· Assist with risk assessment of processes and enforce preventive measures
· Assist with reviewing policies and measures and update according to legislation
· Assist with training materials for employees
· Bring awareness to all company employees about the environmental, health, and safety polices and best practices
· Interact with all departments to assist with EHS issues
· Bring attention to any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
· Assist with recording and investigating incidents to determine causes and handle workers compensation claims
· Assist with maintaining up to date SDS documents
· Assist with inspections and identify hazards and EHS violations
· Assist with solutions and intervention strategies for EHS concerns and hazards
· Monitor operational processes and employee activities
· Assist in preparing EHS compliance documents to the relevant organizations and any pertinent permits, i.e., air and stormwater permits, hazardous waste documents
· Assist with maintaining all EHS records
· Record meeting minutes for the safety teams meeting
- Assist with plant safety 5s initiatives
- Support ISO 14001 planning to help develop programs and sustain the program at a high level including internal audits
- Support planning for Hazardous and Non-regulated waste shipments
- Update the site's flammable cabinet inventory lists as materials change
- Support corporate safety audit planning and follow-up action items
- Assist with and conduct ergonomic studies for new and existing tasks
- Support EHS training including new hire orientation, contractor orientation, and annual refresher training activities
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Associates Degree in preferably occupational health/safety, environmental health, engineering, emergency management or the physical sciences.
- Minimum of 2 years within a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of federal and state guidelines including FDA, EPA, and OSHA.
- Someone who takes initiative/self-starter
- Strong computer skills; proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be a positive and dynamic teammate who collaborates well in a team environment
- Dedicated, passionate, and innovative about environmental, safety, and health
- Self-starter with strong initiative and good time management and organization skills

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
