JOB OVERVIEW:
The sailboat/powerboat Service Manager/Tech is responsible for commissioning, repairing, and maintaining boats in the care of the dealership, as well as scheduling work, ordering parts, estimating, and communicating with customers. The goal of the Service Manager is to deliver satisfied customers and maintain profitability for the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Commission new boats by performing equipment assembly, equipment installation, systems testing, and safety checks
● Install and/or oversee third-party installation of post-factory equipment including electronics, appliances, air conditioning, entertainment equipment, etc.
● Install and/or oversee third party installation of sailboat masts, sails, rigging, etc.
● Perform general boat maintenance which may include minor repairs, bottom painting, assembly, cleaning, waxing, woodworking, etc.
● Identify tools, parts, and equipment needed to complete jobs
● Winterize boats being stored for the winter and re-commission in the spring
● Assist with the set-up and break-down of marketing events such as boat shows, open houses, demo events, and presentations
● Assist with boat deliveries, demos, test sails
● Submit warranty claims to manufacturers
● Communicate with customers on the status of their projects
● Promote service opportunities to customers to grow service revenue
EXPECTATIONS:
● Complete work within the specified time
● Identify additional work that may be required on a customers’ vessel
● Maintain accurate records of time spent and parts used in all service work, and note neatly on
Service Work Orders
● Maintain all tools, parts, and service areas in a clean and organized manner and in working order
● Keep safety a priority
● Attend manufacturer and general technical training, as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Experience with boat systems, repair, and commissioning
● General knowledge of specialized skills, such as electrical, engines, painting, woodworking
● Ability to manage and direct third-party subcontractors
● Thorough and attentive to details
● Able to work autonomously
● Demonstrate people skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
