Senior Mechanical Designer
Job description
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer performs essential duties to developing designs for Engineering and Manufacturing. This role works closely with Design Engineers under minimum supervision. This position is responsible for new platform designs, including all documentation and data associated with the task.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Specializes in a particular technological area of product design, involving highly complex, technical design concepts involving a wide range of products requiring diversified knowledge
- Participates on a commodity team and may be assigned as a commodity team leader
- Makes mathematical calculations to determine dimensions, hole and component locations and tolerances
- Assists Engineering in reference or investigative work related to product design development
- Provides technical leadership to less senior designers. Work at this level may include instructing Mechanical Drafters
- Assists in compliance of documentation to AE standards
- Interacts with manufacturers to produce manufacturable and cost efficient parts
- Attends meetings to gather information, identify and implement solutions
- Continues to research the development of current industry technology and disseminate to other personnel
- Maintains direct communication among departments and provides support to Manufacturing and Engineering
- Models appropriate behavior, communication, and interactions with others and promotes an inclusive, positive work environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Location: Sharon, MA
- Environment: Works in a noisy fast-paced power development lab, clean room and/or standard office environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5.
- Must show advanced computer skills with Solidworks
- Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Ability to manage projects from start to finish including conformance to scheduling, and resource utilization management
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 – 7 years of related design experience plus 5 years of drafting experience or equivalent education
- This individual must show three or more areas of expertise in the design, documentation, and maintenance of the commodities we control. Two commodities must be sheet metal and machined parts
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $100,000 to $130,000 per year.
