CLYNK is a provider of modern, high-speed, large-scale beverage container redemption services in Maine and New York, in addition to being a provider of container redemption technology in other Bottle Bill states. CLYNK Redemption exists to make recycling easier, more convenient and more rewarding for consumers and retailers. It also serves as the “test kitchen” for innovation from our Technology arm.

The opportunity: As the Senior Operations Manager of our rapidly growing Redemption Operation (a senior level role) you will lead the activities of our processing workforce which includes 3 operation centers across ME and NY You will have the opportunity to help craft the position, and the intent is that this position becomes the “right hand person” of the VP of Operations.

What you’ll do (reporting to the SVP of Operations):

  • Manage all Redemption Operation personnel related to processing. Work with all site supervisors to lead, mentor and provide training opportunities to plant management right down to the shift level.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency gains in a thin margin business.
  • Interact with equipment providers and drive innovation in equipment.
  • Optimize material handling and contributes to commodity outsourcing by assisting the Materials Supervisor as needed.
  • Help establish our location strategy.
  • Establish and report on key metrics governing both top line growth and cost controls.
  • Develop goals and tactical plans to achieve these priorities.
  • Oversee scheduling of both staffing and the operation center hours for all locations
  • Work with supervision and take a lead role in all aspects of recruiting, hiring, and disciplinary actions.

This position requires significant Operational leadership experience. A background in operations or manufacturing with a proven track record of upward progression is a must.

In addition, as a member of the CLYNK management team you will:

  • Promote process improvement and partner with the SVP of Operations and the plant management team for strategic problem-solving and decision making.
  • Make recommendations of applications/equipment and other systems and strategies across operations that would accommodate rapid growth in transaction volume and number of operations sites.
  • Positively promote company culture and serve as a role model on ethics, integrity and customer-first operations.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to recycling and environmental stewardship, as well a bone-deep orientation to producing exemplary quality recyclable material.

What is required of the Operation Manager:

The ideal candidate has as a broad set of general management or plant management skills. Not only can you turn strategic plans into tactical business operations, but you also have experience in a similar role (s) in a similar industry. You will need an ability to be a jack-of-all trades, serving as both a player and coach.

In addition, we are looking for:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, MBA a plus. 10+ years of professional work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar leadership capacity is required, must be within a related industry like waste management, material handling, recycling, or manufacturing.
  • Strong people orientation, and the ability to skillfully manage change. A record of success in managing and mentoring both skilled managers and entry level lower skilled workforce
  • Experience and ease in handling HR related activities for a workforce like that at CLYNK’s operation centers.
  • High level of competence in data analysis and strong toolset around performance/operations metrics for plant/manufacturing-like organizations
  • Experience examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending operational/ organizational, financial, HR, and technology procedures for your facilities
  • Demonstrated willingness to roll-up your sleeves in the way required of a small company, and a similar understanding that small growth-oriented organizations require a high level of flexibility
  • High level of proficiency with computers, adept in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and related programs, experience with QuickBooks or other basic accounting system, Metric reporting, and Inventory Management without built in systems
  • Ability to build, document and track progress within project plans and build basic financial spreadsheets.
  • Hands-on manager and charismatic leader with a strong commitment to developing team members. Patience and tolerance for tough cases and second chances.

Compensation

This position will be a senior level and manager in redemption operations. Base salary with an annual bonus opportunity.
