What’s the Opportunity?
We are seeking a full-time, mid-level CAD Designer based in our Irvine, CA office. Join our national CAD team supporting a wide range of civil and structural engineering projects. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, is a committed team player, can coordinate with colleagues in a remote work environment, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
We are specifically looking for a candidate with structural design experience and interest to support a range of marine and waterfront related civil and structural engineering issues, including the design of piers, wharves, bulkheads, seawalls, docks, marinas, and other coastal structures in and around the waterfront, as well as landside grading, paving, etc.

Responsibilities:
- Working directly with engineers and planners to perform CAD design and develop deliverables for projects.
- Preparing construction plan drawings and report figures
- Converting CAD drawings from outside consultants or agencies for internal use
- Comfortable working with bathymetric and topographic data and importing third-party survey data to create existing conditions backgrounds.
- Understands and visualizes overall civil engineering concepts, such as transportation and structures, and translating plan view concepts to design figures and drawings including sections and details.
- Understands structural engineering concepts.
- Performs measurements and material take-offs from CAD models to assist with construction contract modifications and cost estimates.
What Are We Looking For?
Required:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D
- Proficient with managing redline edits with Bluebeam and/or Acrobat
- Understanding and application of CAD standards
- Understanding of construction methods
- Understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including OneDrive, Word, and Excel
- Understanding of communication software, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco WebEx
- Ability to work with multiple team members located in other offices
Preferred
- Experience with MicroStation and ArcGIS is a plus.
- 2+ years of heavy civil, structural, and/or waterfront design. Experience with drafting of piers, wharves, marinas, cargo terminals, bulkheads, and related coastal structures is a plus.
- Familiarity with National Park Service CAD standards is a plus.
- Ability to use Civil 3D to create digital TIN surfaces for 3D modeling to compute excavations and fill for earthmoving and dredging projects is a plus.
