JOB DESCRIPTION: TEACHER ASSISTANT

TITLE: Teacher Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Substitute Teacher Certificate or an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

2. Previous experience working as a teaching assistant preferred but not required

3. Has a minimum of 60 College Credits

REPORTS TO:

1. Lead classroom teacher

2. Principal

JOB GOAL:

To assist the lead classroom teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so that students may learn effectively.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.

2. Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.

3. Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.

4. Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.

5. Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.

6. Helps maintain individual records for each child.

7. Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.

8. Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.

9. Assists with the supervision of children during meal times and regular play periods

10. Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.

11. Attends staff meetings, conferences, and required professional development workshops.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Temporary position – however, opportunity could lead to a full-time staff position.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal.

Pay: $28,475.00 - $48,534.00 per year
