The Division of Juvenile Corrections, Grow Academy, is seeking a qualified individual to fill a Teacher - Career Vocational Education position, located in Oregon, WI (Dane County).
This position requires extensive travel and the incumbent must complete training on non-secure Principles of Subject Control (POSC).

Position Summary

The teacher will develop and implement a program of professional vocational Career & Technical Educational (CTE) services to youth in our care in the area of career exploration, trades and vocational education in order to meet their assessed career and vocational needs. The teacher will complete, in a timely manner, all required documentation, student assessment/progress and other reporting requirements. Candidate will work with UW systems and Technical Schools, Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other local and States entities to provide career connections to opportunities for youth including employment and training opportunities in the community and educational opportunities in the UW systems and Technical School Systems. This position is responsible for developing and implementing access to employment and training programs that the youth are able to sustain after the youth have completed the Grow Academy.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 13-04 with a starting salary will be between $24.97/hour and $30.59/hour plus excellent benefits. This position may receive supplemental (add-on) pay adjustments for additional credits relevant to the position that are over and above the credits needed for certification. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have: Certification as a Teacher (grade levels: 7-12, prek-12, 6-12 or 9-12) by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and certification in one of the following: #1200 Agriculture, #1250 Business Education, #1210 Family and Consumer #1810 Cognitive Disabilities; #1811 Learning Disabilities; or #1830 Emotion/Behavioral Disabilities, Education, #1220 Technology Education, #1285 Marketing Education, #1801 Cross-Categorical Special Education, Alternative Education #1952 Maintain valid driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards in accordance with Department of Corrections Driver’s License Policy.
