Job Summary

Under the oversight of the The Next Step Program Coordinator, the employee performs counseling and advising duties for the Next Step Youth Program. The employee provides guidance in choosing career paths and shares necessary job skills. The employee provides guidance in preparation for job readiness training and College admissions. The employee also performs administrative tasks to assist in the effective and efficient operation of The Next Step Youth program.


SALARY SCHEDULE:
$16.59 per hour, not to exceed 19 hours per week.

The position will be based initially on the Wallace Campus.

More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.

Minimum Qualifications/Screening Process

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • One year of work experience in career counseling or working with disadvantaged adults is required.
  • Possession of a current and valid driver's license with the ability to drive is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Adult Education is preferred.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisory committee will select the applicants to be interviewed.

Applicants must travel at their own expense for interviews that are conducted in person.

Part-time positions are posted based on the possible availability of a future assignment which are sporadic and may not occur. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and instructional needs of the College.

3. Cover letter describing specifically how your experience and qualifications meet the minimum requirements.
4. Appropriate transcript(s) identifying the applicant, institution, date degree conferred and verifying the applicant has received the minimum of a bachelors degree. Transcripts may be unofficial for the application process but they must identify the applicant, institution, degree earned and the date the degree was conferred. (A copy of the diploma will not suffice).
